The State Labor Government will open six new government-owned and operated Early Learning Victoria centres in 2028.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett announced today that a centre will open on the site of Maryborough Education Centre.

The centres will have natural outdoor play spaces and together will provide more than 590 places for local children.

They’ll offer Free Kinder and long day care and will have space for maternal and child health consultations, as well as community rooms for playgroups and meetings.

Labor is delivering 50 government owned and operated Early Learning Victoria centres in the places that need them most.

By 2028 we’ll have opened 30 of these centres, helping thousands of families access early education.

As of this year, 18 centres are open, with more than 1,800 places for local children.

Labor introduced Free Kinder, Labor is expanding it – and only Labor will continue it.

Quotes attributable to Member for Ripon Martha Haylett

"Our Labor government has delivered brand-new childcare centres in Clunes and Wedderburn, with another being built as we speak in Avoca. Having another childcare centre in Maryborough will help local families so much, as we know there is currently a shortage of spots for local kids."

"Having the centre co-located next to Maryborough Education Centre will help families avoid the dreaded double drop off, and will help kids with the transition to school."
