Avoca Shire Turf Club is set to benefit from a $15,242 funding boost to upgrade their facilities and boost the race day experience as part of the Allan Labor Government’s ongoing investment in country racing.
Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines today announced more than $730,000 from the Regional Customer Facilities Program to improve racing infrastructure at 18 regional racing venues.
The Avoca Shire Turf Club will use the grant for the purchase of 30 large market umbrellas for shade and wet weather protection at Avoca and Kyneton racecourses.
Thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing clubs will receive grants of up to $100,000 to deliver projects that upgrade function spaces, improve public amenities and purchase new equipment – ensuring racegoers and communities can enjoy these venues all year round.
Under the Regional Customer Facilities Program, funded through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund, regional race clubs can apply for grants to support projects that improve facilities and encourage greater community use.
The regional racing industry contributes $1.17 billion to the Victorian economy each year and supports more than 9,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the state.
