MAJOR BALLARAT ROADS REVAMP WRAPS UP

Thousands of Ballarat drivers can now reach their destinations safer and sooner, with works on the Allan Labor Government’s Keeping Ballarat Moving program of works complete.

The Labor Government’s $60.8 million package has unlocked six of the city’s most notorious traffic hotspots, particularly in the rapidly growing west, delivering easier, safer journeys right across Ballarat.

The program of works has also delivered for those travelling on foot, boosting pedestrian access and better connecting to Ballarat’s growth and development areas.

Works on the program’s final project – a new roundabout at the intersection of Dyson Drive and Ballarat-Carngham Road – wrapped up recently, improving the flow of traffic at the busy intersection and boosting safety for all road users.

Ballarat’s rapidly growing west has led to increased traffic at the intersection, with 700 vehicles using the intersection every hour during peak times. This figure is expected to increase 60 per cent by 2041.

Other works delivered as part of the program include:

  • New traffic lights at the intersection of La Trobe Street and Wiltshire Lane
  • New traffic lights at the intersection of Wiltshire Lane and the Glenelg Highway
  • Duplication of Albert Street in Sebastopol between Queen and Docwra Street
  • New traffic lights at the intersection of Albert Street and Hertford Street
  • New traffic lights at the intersection of Albert Street and Docwra Street
  • New traffic lights at the intersection of Gillies Street and Gregory Street.
