More fishing clubs across Victoria are getting a helping hand to upgrade facilities, boost their membership, and encourage the next generation of recreational fishers, with new grants backing community-based clubs thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Outdoor Recreation Steve Dimopoulos this week announced 12 grants awarded to local clubs through the Labor Government’s Stronger Fishing Club Grants, including $10,000 for the Clunes Angling Club, made possible through the reinvestment of fishing licence fees.
The Clunes Angling Club has been a part of the community since 1912, providing members of all skill levels an opportunity to participate in recreational and competitive fishing. The Club’s goal is to give each member the opportunity to enjoy their passion while contributing to the conservation of local waterways, sharing techniques, and building lifelong friendships.
This grant will enable the Clunes Angling Club to ensure they remain a strong, vibrant community organisation for years to come with funds for member uniforms, a laptop, club equipment, food handling courses for members, and a kitchen upgrade.
The Stronger Fishing Club Grant is part of the Labor Government’s $96 million investment to improve fishing, boating, piers, and aquaculture for communities across the state.
