The Victorian Government continues to make way with its major redevelopment and expansion of Maryborough and District Hospital, with construction progressing well on the $115 million redevelopment.
The building is taking shape with internal works being finalised across all levels. The state-of-the-art project is set to provide better access to primary and community health services with a new urgent care centre, a 32-bed inpatient and maternity unit, two operating theatres and recovery spaces, and a day medical centre with imaging, pharmacy, and pathology services.
A modern design and layout of services will improve patient flow and provide a safer, more efficient hospital. The redevelopment will also deliver new consultant suites and a new reception area to provide better care for patients and ensure that staff have the facilities that they need to provide world class care for the community
The project will also provide birthing suites as part of the new maternity unit, ensuring that local women will be able to give birth closer to home and their families and loved ones.
Once complete, the project will enable Maryborough’s dedicated doctors and nurses to treat an additional 4,000 patients every year, enabling more locals to access the health services they need closer to home while catering for future demand in regional Victoria.
More than 80 additional car spaces for staff and visitors will be added as part of the redevelopment, with additional improvements made to drop-off areas.
With major construction works nearing completion, external works including landscaping will get underway shortly for completion within 2025.
